Methods of Perception
This is a model of a design that isolates the five human senses in each room and redirects the focus back to the site. The site for this building is along the banks of the LSU Lakes. The first room is an entry room to prepare the visitor for the coming experience. The visitor then moves into the first room, which has an open bottom so the different natural textures of sand, grass, and water can be felt through the sense of touch. The second room isolates the sense of sound by having perforated walls so only sound can penetrate through. The third room has an opening at the bottom of one wall and an opening at the top of the opposite wall to create a wind tunnel and isolate the sense of smell. The fourth room has a large window facing viewing the lake to isolate the sense of sight. The final room isolates the sense of taste by having fruit trees and vegetable plants that the visitor can consume. The design of the building mirrors the form of the lake so the building can fit into its location. It also has large clerestory windows to allow natural light to illuminate the rooms. Slipped entrances between rooms force the visitor to walk through the entirety of each room.
3D Printed Custom Staircase
The staircase is a custom piece designed as a part of the Social Station project. The stairs serve multiple functions including assembly seating, casual lounge work areas, lunch areas, display areas, and a pop-up runway. The model was originally created in Revit, brought into Rhino for minor adjustments, and Cura for scaling and 3D printing.
Hue Echo
Using ColorAid paper, this model manipulates the apparent color of the two blues on the right, left, and smaller central squares to appear the same color by differing backgrounds and depths.
Light Wood Framed House Model
This model is a hand-made scaled model of a light wood frame construction of a home placed on foundation blocks.
